And both children were taught by Adam in all things how to deal with the cultivation of the earth, and also how to be shepherds of sheep, besides farmers of the earth, and in all the teachings received by Adam of the Lord God. But each of the boys chose his own profession, with which this was identified reveals the word in Genesis 4:2, “And Abel was a shepherd of sheep, and Cain was a farmer of the earth. ” In this period they learned everything that the Lord God taught their Father Adam, but yet they did not reach the life of patriarchs in the design of the Lord God.

The main teaching was to understand the sacrifice of animals as a heave offering, exclusive to the Lord God, this would be for the sanctification of their lives. And it is in this principle that they needed to understand and fix in their lives, and to be clear forever in the minds of these young children of Adam who needed to reach grace and know how to sacrifice to the Lord God, to achieve his salvation and eternal life. This again would be possible as long as in life the Lord was offered, the sacrifice of firstborn animals within the flocks. This fact pointed to the sacrifice of the firstborn of the Lord God the Lord Jesus: “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and in his blood washed us of our sins. ” (Revelation 1:5).

But the knowledge of evil is within the heart and mind, and even for the young children of Adam. In this we can see the difficulty of transmitting the teachings that are already in these early days of civilization clearly revealed as being difficult teachings to be passed on. This occurred in the first generation of patriarch Adam and his two sons: "And it came to pass at the end of the days that Cain brought an offering from the fruit of the earth unto the Lord." (Genesis 4:3).

Here it is to reality continues for all generations, always, with the knowledge of evil demonstrated in the heart of a young man, for it was an offering that was not the Lord's guidance. Transmitting spiritual inheritance to man’s life remains a personal responsibility of parents, and accepting is a free will of children: “And Abel also brought of the firstborn of his sheep, and of his fat: and the Lord looked upon Abel and his offering. ” (Genesis 4:4).

And just as the Lord God loves all his children and wants to save them, every father of every family wants the best and well-being and salvation of his children. This is a task that must be sought with fear and prayer. We can see that the life of the patriarchs did not continue through the first sons of Adam, Cain, and Abel. By understanding the sacrifice in obedience to his father's teachings, Abel brought from the firstborn of his sheep and sacrificed according to Genesis 4:4, and pleased the Lord God. Thus Abel became the first martyr of the project of salvation, achieved grace by understanding the teachings of salvation (the sacrifice of the firstborn) and food, for he ate the fruit of the earth.

The word states that Abel made an offer to the Lord God, “and its fat”. This means that Abel offered everything to the Lord, every sheep but the leather, he did not think to separate and feed himself from parts of it or its fats, all to the Lord. We can conclude with all certainty that Abel fed on grain and the fruits of the earth, for these were the teachings of the Lord God to Adam his father, according to Genesis 3:18,19, so Abel was faithful to the teachings that Adam received from the Lord God.

Cain, as the word reveals, went out from the presence of the Lord Yahweh: "And Cain went out from before the face of the Lord..." (Genesis 4:16a), and on his offer we shall yet speak. But to Adam the Lord reserved the continuity of his generation, and sons were born unto him again: “ And Adam knew his wife again: and she bore a son, and called his name Seth: (...) And a son was born unto Seth: and she called his name Enos: Then began to call upon the name of the Lord. ” (Genesis 4: 25a, 26).

Through these children, and the sons of these children, fear of the Lord God is again present; “Then began to call upon the name of the Lord. ” From these teachings of parents to children in the generations of these patriarchs, we can take away the certainty that the project of salvation and nourishment would not fail to accompany the life of man.

Many centuries later Abraham became the patriarch of the Lord God's design for a great nation. The Lord God chose because he knew his heart, and knew that in Abraham his teachings in the life of his children would be perpetuated in obedience.

"For I have known him, that he shall command his sons and his house after him, that they may keep the way of the LORD, that they may work with righteousness and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what he has spoken of him. ” (Genesis 18:19).

So Abraham became the patriarch and forerunner of the nation of Israel. And through Israel the Lord would give examples of obedience in his word for the salvation and nourishment of all mankind.

In these teachings on food are founded on this nation of Israel the greatest examples of how human dependence should be on the food of the Lord God, both the spiritual food of the soul and the edible food of the body, and this always depends on his word. The Lord God as Father of all who are born upon mankind always ready to give the best of food, and eternally salvation.
