All that the Lord God wants is obedience, and this comes through the teachings that are in his word, there is no other way for the human being to approach God, except by obedience to the truth of this word, and by the transmitted understanding that is received with fear fruitfully by the teachings of the Lord Jesus.
Thus the Lord God stipulated in the early days of civilization the sacrifice of animals, pointing to the future and perfect sacrifice of the Lord Jesus for the life of man, we have already said this in the previous chapter. The Lord God himself showed Adam the first sacrifice, so the first blood shed was by the Lord God himself: “ And the Lord God made Adam and his wife fur coats, and clothed them. ” (Genesis 3:21).
This death of an animal must be something that impressed and must have greatly frightened and marked Adam and his wife Eve, for they had never seen bloodshed.
We know by the teaching of the word that the Lord God himself made of this sacrifice to the skin coats to clothe them, and of course that without the skin, that is, without the skin of the animal the rest of the animal was offered as a heave offering (holocaust) to the Lord God himself. And the burning of the animal, and its fat, went up to the glory of the Lord God as a sweet smell, pleasing the LORD, and it is natural that Adam continued with the sacrifice of the burnt offering, keeping the hides to make more garments for himself and his wife and children.
Here comes the teachings to the first patriarch of the offering of sacrifice to the Lord, and to the food of man the foods guided by the Lord God in his word, that is, the fruits of the earth cultivated with the sweat of his labor, this must be made clear forever in the life of man.
Therefore, sacrifice and feeding was stipulated in obedience to the teachings realized and demonstrated by the Lord God himself. This became the only bridge of salvation and nourishment, and this obligation would be perpetuated by the life of these first ten patriarch generations, and in these teachings was the understanding of the patriarchs mentioned, out of fear the word by understanding the perfect sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. Being the only way to redeem sin again by disobedience to the food error committed.
Adam understood the teachings of sacrifice, and passed them on to his first two sons, and sacrificed burnt offerings to Yahweh, and made tunics with skins, and clothed himself with his wife and children.
But in the life of these two children he does not hear the patriarchal continuity, with Abel's death in obedience to the teachings: “... and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. ” (Genesis 4:8b), and Cain came out of the presence of the Lord; “And Cain went out from before the face of the Lord.” By Abel’s obedience we can see that in addition to attaining testimony that it was just: “By faith Abel offered God a greater sacrifice than Cain, for which he obtained testimony that he was righteous,...” (Hebrews 11:4a).
By the faith of this young man who had a short life, and who cannot be numbered among the long lives of the patriarchs, but Abel bore witness that he understood the truth and what he can achieve with obedience, for it is the offering that pleased the Lord, and it is spoken of until our day, for the offering that pleases the LORD is to offer what belongs to the Lord God; and this offering was confirmed by the young and obedient Abel.
Abel the first who slept waits from the beginning of creation for the second coming of Jesus. Yes, young Abel awaits the Lord Jesus: “And Jesus, the Mediator of a New Covenant, and the blood of sprinkling, who speaks better than that of Abel.” (Hebrews 12: 24).
It is also very clear because Cain's offering did not please Yahweh: "And it came to pass at the end of the days that Cain brought an offering from the fruit of the earth unto the Lord. But Cain and his offer did not pay attention. ” (Genesis 4: 3.5a). Why did this young man choose the reverse path? I wish for the meat.
Cain cared for the earth, planted, harvested, but also cared for animals just as Abel his brother did both seized this from his father Adam who received the Lord’s teachings. But Cain sacrificed and ate the animals for himself, and therefore judged by his understanding and free will that he could give to Yahweh the offering of the fruit of the earth. The logic in Cain's reasoning was the evil one: “Not like Cain, who was evil, and killed his brother. And why did you kill him? For his works were evil, and his brother's righteous. ” (1 John 3:12).
It is perfect here the reasoning and also unquestionable the understanding that we can achieve from the word of the Lord God that Cain also needed food, and that he himself offered the fruit of the earth to the Lord, that he by his desire, and need to feed the flesh of the animals for himself. So the opposite of your brother Abel who was doing just the work. Cain wanted for himself the pleasures of the flesh and the smell of fat for him and for his palate, which was to be of the Lord God and belonged, and his glory in the hands of man, the repetition of human error in the first generation.
