The second teaching. Jesus came to fulfill his plan Father in his entirety, who is the salvation of man, and this was above his own food needs. The Lord Jesus never lived of appearance. On the contrary, this was the countenance of the Lord Jesus in fulfilling his Father’s plan. “For he went up as a branch before him, and as a root of a dry land; it seemed neither fair; and when we looked upon him, we saw no beauty, that we might desire him. ” (Isaiah 53: 2).
The fig tree from which the Lord Jesus approached and whose figs he wanted to feed on, there was only appearance in it, “He found nothing but leaves.” Jesus instead produced the fruits that his Father had taught him to produce, and this is the greatest proof of his strength, “it didn’t look like weasel,” But Jesus has words of power, and Jesus has authority to say to the fig tree. “Never eat any fruit of you again.”
He taught his disciples that they could not live on appearances like fig trees, “because it was not fig time. ” And the disciples were also being taught by the Lord Jesus. The disciples would bear fruit to God’s kingdom at the right time: “...go into all the world, preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; but whoever does not believe will be condemned. ” (Mark 16: 15, 16). And it is for us today that we cannot dispense the spiritual food fruits for our salvation, and the edible that the Lord God wants to offer us.
